Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01), will hold two telephone town halls this week reaching out to over 100,000 constituents. On Tuesday, September 6th, Congressman Harris’s office will call out to constituents in the western reaches of the district and on the Upper Shore. Then on Thursday, September 8th, Congressman Harris’s office will call out to constituents living in the Mid-and-Lower Shore.

The ONLY TIME Harris EVER reaches out to voters is just prior to election day! I have called and sent multiple letters to his office asking for HIS response. Instead what I get is the Republican national position, that has little do with District 1. Harris has NEVER represented District 1 and this year won’t change anything

I was a bit confused about the nature of a “constituent town hall” and had no idea how this event will work since the release says absolutely nothing. I sent the following email to his office asking for clarification:
The article in the Talbot Spy said to send enquiries to you.
I am confused. Can you please explain to me what is a “telephone town hall?”
How does it work? How does he reach 100,000 constituents? Will all be on the phone at the same time?
Will Mr. Harris call people at random? Will he take random calls from constituents?
What is a constituent call list? Does he have 100,000 constituents on it? How do you get on it? How do you get off of it?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Heather Mizeur has suggested a good set of questions:
1. Why do you support a nationwide abortion ban, with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the health of the mother?
2. Why do you take credit for local projects funded by bills you voted against?
3. What was your role at the December 2020 White House meeting to overturn the results of the free and fair election?
4. Why do you raise so much money from corporate PACs and special interests, yet still use our tax dollars to send out fancy mail & radio ads that promote a partisan political agenda and benefit your campaign?
5. Taxpayers have paid you over $2 million in salary over the last 12 years for passing one bill (to rename a post office). Are you proud of that?
But as these so-called town halls are always tightly controlled none of these will be addressed.
