Jazz on the Chesapeake, which annually presents The Monty Alexander Jazz Festival, will present a magical collaboration featuring jazz pianist Rossano Sportiello, who recently led a Salute to George Shearing at the Café Carlyle in New York. Rossano will be joined by Shore favorite Chuck Redd on his lyrical vibraphone and Harry Allen on tenor saxophone. The Quintet will also feature Frank Tate, one of the great American bass players, who was first choice bassist for Marian McPartland, and Dennis Mackrel, one of today’s finest drummers, arranger, conductor and composer, who started his career with Count Basie.
The concert will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 8 p.m. at the Academy Art Museum which is located at 106 South Street in Easton. Tickets are limited and the admission price is $45 per person. To purchase tickets visit jazzonthechesapeak.org or call 410-819-0380. Jazz on the Chesapeake is a program of Chesapeake Chamber Music.
