Shown (left to right) are Mackenzie Campbell, Nathan Mullen, Ellie Kilmon, Sarah Kilmon, Savannah Allen, Zoe Jones, and Brandon Stacey while working on a mosaic mural at West Wing Salon & Spa in downtown Easton. The project was directed by Jennifer Wagner and will be unveiled Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. during Plein Air–Easton!.

On Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m., mosaic artist Jennifer Wagner will unveil her latest community mural. The project was created on an outside wall of the West Wing Salon & Spa, owned by Rhonda Robinson. The salon is located at 111 N. Harrison Street in downtown Easton. Under Wagner’s direction, the mural was created by children ages 8-17 in conjunction with an Academy Art Museum summer camp and partially underwritten by the Academy Art Museum.

Maddie Moffett designed the mural. The students gave input on design elements, used tools to cut sheet glass, adhered glass to the wall, and grouted the finished design.

“Despite the hot weather, the kids did a great job,” says Wagner. “They learned a lot and we cooled off with water balloon fights and took breaks to eat pizza provided by the salon.”

Wagner is well-known for creating delightful mosaics around the region. In 2011, she was named “Best Artist on the Upper Shore” by Maryland Life magazine, and in 2010 her Gallery 26 was voted “Most Unique Gifts” by What’s Up? magazine.
