The Talbot County Democratic Central Committee’s Second Annual Douglass-Tubman Dinner will be held Friday, May 18 at Easton’s historic Waterfowl Building, 40 S. Washington St. Festivities will begin at 5pm with a reception followed by dinner. To attend, go to www.talbotdems.org
This year’s event commemorates the accomplishments of our renowned native son and daughter, Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. It will feature a town hall style question and answer session with Joe Trippi, Media Strategist for Democrat Doug Jones’ upset win in the Alabama Senate Campaign. Kathleen Matthews, Maryland State Democratic Party Chair, will moderate the evening. The next 50 guests to purchase tickets via www.talbotdems.org will receive a complimentary copy of Joe Trippi‘s book “The Revolution Will Not be Televised.”
Mr. Trippi, described by Republican Strategist Harlan Hill as “one of the most brilliant political consultants in the country,” was an integral part of the successful Senate race in Alabama. He has been called the man who “reinvented campaigning” by the New Republic and has been at the forefront of numerous House of Representative victories including Representatives Tulsi Gabbard, Janice Hahn, Mark Takano and Seth Moulton. He began his career working on Edward Kennedy’s presidential campaign and is best known for his reinvention of campaigning during Howard Dean’s presidential run.
Ms. Matthews will highlight the need to elect strong leaders into key positions at the County, State and national level. The discussion will center on Democratic strategy to win in 2018 while preparing for the 2020 Presidential election.
Chairman Scott Kane looks forward to hosting this event; “We are inspired today by the leadership of Frederick Douglass and Harriett Tubman. They shared a vision that changed our nation. So must we today. We start right here, right now, with our own expert panel and path to action. Come join us for this exciting evening.”
