Mid-Shore Profiles: The Harry Potter Festival

September 11, 2015 by James Dissette

Students of Hogwarts, unite! Buckle-up your broomstick and snap on your cape. Harry Potter Weekend is coming.

Last year’s Harry Potter Festival hit Chestertown like a tsunami of wizards, wands and witches as upwards of 2,000 J.K. Rowling fans paid tribute to their favorite characters from the world’s most famous book series.

The second annual wizardry event will be held October 2 and 3 throughout Chestertown, and now that the word is out and merchants are convinced of its magic, 40 downtown businesses will be transformed into a living chapter from the book, complete with Quidditch tournaments (you have to look that up yourself if you don’t know), a Hogwarts for children at the Garfield Theatre, scavenger hunts through Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, Potter in the Park, a costume contest and even a real Harry Potter magician.

Garfield Theatre Manager Tess Hogan tells us more about this special weekend and invites wizards of all ages to cast a spell.
