Midshore Meals til Monday was recently honored at the 38th Annual Governor’s Service Awards held on November 22, 2021 at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, Maryland. MtM was recognized for their outstanding display of dedication to service and volunteerism in the category of Non-Profit Volunteer Program.
Leslie Bishop, MtM Founder and Director along with Linda Starling, MtM Volunteer Manager and other volunteers attended the awards ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of MtM’s all volunteers and generous community partners. When asked to reflect on the significance of the award, Linda Starling noted, “Midshore Meals til Monday is deeply honored to be selected as this year’s outstanding Non-Profit organization for the Governor’s Award for Service and Volunteerism. It truly honors the amazing job our volunteers have done over the last 18 months. Their time, talent and energy helped to ensure that any child in need had food over the weekend.”
As an all-volunteer organization, MidShore Meals til Monday closes the gap on hunger by sending home food items for breakfast, lunch and snacks every weekend of the year, and is part of a network of community partners working together for Dorchester County’s children to thrive and reach their potential. Private donations and grants help Meals til Mondays obtain food from the Maryland Food Bank or through bulk warehouse purchases.
