Mr. Charles Eser, Director of MEBA (Marine Engineering Benevolence Association). Chuck will be the Navy League Keynote Speaker on Tuesday October 16th, 2018, at the Talbot Country Club. He will speak of the activities and mission of the MEBA Educational facility located on St. Michaels Road.
Everyone is invited for the Tuesday Evening, October 16, 2018 Dinner Meeting. Social Hour starts at 5:00 PM; Dinner call is 6:00 PM. Keynote Speaker at 7:00 PM. This will be the 264th meeting of the Eastern Shore Navy League Council. Non-members are always welcome. Dinner cost is $40 per person. Please email [email protected] or call-in reservations (410-819-8029) by Friday October 12th. Payment at the door will be accepted. A mail-in reservation form is attached to his email.
The three-course dinner menu will consist of garden salad, entre, seasonal vegetables, and dessert. Dinner beverages, rolls, and butter are included. There will be a cash bar. We honor WWII Veterans with complementary beverages.
Mr. Eser is employed at the Calhoon MEBA Engineering School (CMES), serving as its Director. Previous posts at CMES include: Academic and Quality Systems Manager, Business Development Coordinator, and Instructor of various marine engineering-technology subjects.
Prior to coming to CMES in 2000, Mr. Eser worked for 15 years as a marine engineer and systems integrator for Advanced Technology, Inc. and Propulsion Dynamics, Inc. He supported the Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) Ship Design Offices during CG-47, DDG 51, and AOE-6 ship design, construction, and testing phases.
In 1980, he graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy, receiving a BS Degree in Marine Engineering and a USCG Engineering License for Steam, Motor, and Gas Turbine-powered vessels. He is certified by the International Society of Automation (ISA) as a Control Systems Technician and has completed continuing education courses in software design, marine fuels analysis, methods of quality instruction and instructional supervision, and curriculum development. Immediately following graduation, Mr. Eser served for two years aboard product tankers operated by the Mobil Oil Corporation.
Mr. Eser considers his professional strength to be the application of an attitude that seeks, recognizes, and corrects underlying factors that would have otherwise yielded deficient technical and managerial decisions. He believes in processes that focus on defining a project’s overall needs and requirements early, then advances with a design synthesis and system validation; while considering the overall objective and purpose.
Raised in Annapolis, Mr. Eser has lived in Caroline County for the past 29 years; raising two children with his wife, Laura.His hobbies include boating, scale-model construction, and playing guitar.
The Eastern Shore Navy League Council proudly sponsors the U.S. Navy Wallops Island Surface Combat Systems Center, and the U.S. Coast Guard Station Oxford. We host members of those stations,and present ‘Enlisted Person of the Quarter’ awards as the opportunity merits. Donations are made to sea service Fleet Recreation Funds.
It is our intention to make a donation to the Wallops Island U.S. Navy Birthday Ball. Mark your calendars for this event on Saturday, October 13th, for an evening of pure pleasure with the active Navy at Wallops Island, in the Chincoteague Virginia Eastern Shore area.
The Navy League Eastern Shore Council (NL ESC) also supports three high school JROTC units. These are Easton High School Navy NJROTC, Woodbridge HS (DE) Marine Corps JROTC, and Pocomoke High School MCJROTC. The NL council provides awards, scholarships, and financial gifts when possible.
