While political consultant Joe Trippi is the first to admit that he and his family are “come heres” it should be noted for the record that his “come here” took place more than 25 years ago. In fact, Trippi, who first hit national attention with his out-of-the-box management of Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign, has been so local that for many years, he and his wife, Cathy, owned and operated Justine’s Ice Cream Parlour in St. Michaels.
With those credentials in mind, The Spy was eager to get a uniquely qualified opinion about the No Labels movement and the possibly tragic consequences of a third-party candidate for the country in 2024. As noted in our conversation with Joe, he considers a 3rd party candidacy a direct threat to democracy since it would open the door for a Trump victory. Consequently, he and other veteran political leaders (including Spy Columnist Al From) have formed Citizens to Save Our Republic to avoid this kind of predicted outcome.
We talked to Joe by Zoom this week.
This video is approximately seven minutes in length.

Mr. Trippi’s fear that Mr. Manchin might run as the presidential candidate of the “No Name” party would be laid to rest if the Democrats nominated him as their candidate. Then all of us, Democrats and Republicans, could heave a sigh of relief.

From this premise stated below the video, I have to wonder how attempting to control and forcing an election result from two lame front-runner duopoly candidates constitutes democracy. You may not like the outcome which you are trying to prevent, but the process you are proposing to get to the end result you prefer, is equally anti-democratic.
I really think it’s time we take a look at how our outdated, controlled, two-party system of corporate elitism fails to serve the American people and true democracy. And that is only one of the reasons I’ll be voting for populist, anti-establishment Robert Kennedy Jr. – he plans to rebuild the Democratic party to once again be a party of the people, as it was in his father’s and uncle’s day, as a start.

The No Labels opportunity does not originate with Trump anymore than with Biden. Both are widely unpopular with Independents and the Centers of the two traditional Parties. No Labels says it will proceed to contest the election if the match is Biden v Trump. So what Democrat operatives and voters should do is to nominate a better candidate than Biden. Open up your Party. If you believe the most able candidate for 2024 is President Biden then make sure that is proven through a competitive primary. My guess is Biden would stand down as former President Lyndon Johnson did in 1968 when his weakness was revealed in the New Hampshire primary.

Agreed, well said.

I’ve heard about Trump Derangement Syndrome but didn’t believe it existed until I viewed this video.
