The Academy Awards struck a little closer to home this year, as one winner has local ties.
The film “Inocente” was directed and produced by the team of Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine, and won the Oscar for documentary short on Sunday. The three-time Emmy award winning team has been directing, producing and shooting documentaries for ten years in over 30 countries.
“Inocente” depicts the real life of a homeless, undocumented teenage girl in San Diego as she follows her dream to become an artist.
Filmmaker Sean Fine followed in the footsteps of his parents, Holly and Paul Fine of Easton, who spent 35 years as filmmakers for 60 Minutes, ABC, CBS and others.
“It’s fantastic to have an Oscar in the family” said Holly Fine. “And we’re working to bring the film, the filmmakers and the young artist, Inocente Izucar to Easton sometime this summer for a big celebration.”
