The 39th Annual Book Mart will be held on Market Street in Oxford on Saturday, September 26th from 8 to 2 pm, with a rain date of Sunday, September 27th. Market Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for this event. All surplus books that have been generously donated will be placed on tables for public perusal. The Mart is set up in front of Oxford’s quaint little Library, which dates back to 1950.
Over time, this eagerly anticipated event has attracted bibliophiles, collectors and casual readers both young and old from as far as Delaware and New Jersey to find treasures. Dozens of tables are stacked with books of every descrip/on…all at bargain prices. You’ll find paperbacks and hardcovers, coffee table, fic/on and non-fiction, mysteries, biographies, history, gardening, cooking, nau/cal, medical, science, young children’s, and more.
The Library is run solely by dedicated volunteers and exists independently from the county’s library system, thus making the sale an important fund-raising event. Our first book sale was held in 1977 and has grown widely popular over the years as the number of books and selection has increased.
Come early or stay late and enjoy a walk along Oxford’s quiet tree-lined streets or perhaps have lunch or dinner at one of the town’s five excellent restaurants within easy walking (or biking) distance from the Library.
