Senior Center 2019 Golf & Tennis Fundraiser

May 26, 2019 by Spy Desk

Share

The second annual Swing FORE Our Seniors Golf and Tennis Tournament to benefit the Talbot County Senior Centers in Easton and Saint Michaels is coming this June.  The Tennis Tournament is scheduled June 9th at 8 am at the Easton YMCA and the golf is scheduled June 11th at 9 am at Hog Neck Golf Course.  The inaugural event last year was great fun for the participants and raised a substantial sum to support the programs at The Talbot County Senior Centers.

This year’s Honorary Chairpersons will be Harold Baines and Mayor Robert Willey.  Mr. Baines, who is a lifelong St. Michaels resident and avid golfer, was recently elected into The Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.  Mr. Willey has served as the Mayor for the Town of Easton for the past twelve years and is also an avid golfer.

The 2018 Tennis Tournament was a true success!  We played the tournament in a World Team Tennis Format.  We had 3 teams with each team having 8 players that competed in Ladies Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Adult Youth Combination.  The team competition brought a great deal of excitement.  Aaron Hutt’s team took the grand prize, but we are sure with the talk this year, there will be new teams signing up and will look to take the trophies home!!  Register today as an individual and we promise to make the day a great day on the courts!  We will provide a lovely lunch under the pavilion at the end of the tournament.  Looking forward to the 2nd Annual Swing Fore Our Seniors Tennis Event!

The 2018 golf tournament was won by the YMCA Team consisting of: Jim Fodrie, Robbie Gill, Dick Kemp and Tim Weiland. Hopefully they will return to defend their title. The 2019 tournament will again be played as a foursome scramble and will feature putting, chipping contests as well as closest to the pin.  There will be a substantial prize for a hole in one at designated holes.  This is a wonderful opportunity to share time with friends, enjoy a little low key competition and contribute to a valuable community resource.  The course conditions are ideal at Hog Neck in June and if the golf does not go well there will be a catered barbeque after the round to look forward to.  Camaraderie, golf, lunch and a great cause – what could be better?

Please visit the Brookletts Place website at www.brooklettsplace.org/golf-and-tennis-tournament for additional information or you may contact the Center at 410-822-2869 or [email protected].
