After hearing about the Partners in Care project based in Easton, one might wonder why the organization simply didn’t call themselves “Partners in Cars,” since the lion’s share of their work is coordinating rides between those Mid-Shore neighbours and those nearby who need rides to doctor visits, the local drug store, or some food shopping.
But as Pam O’Brien, who coordinates Partners in Care on the Eastern Shore notes, the organization’s mission is so much more than a friendly and free ride service. In her interview with the Spy, Pam talks about Partners in Care, which was founded in 2009, and the 1,000 plus connections made every year to pair up neighbours for rides and friendship.
This video is approximately five minutes in length. For more information about Partners in Care, please go here or contact Pam at 410-822-1803

Partners in Care is an amazing organization. Pam O’Brien leads by example and is welcoming to members and volunteers alike — she has a heart of gold and makes everyone feel like family. Volunteering for this organization has changed my life and has introduced me to neighbors that have given more to me than they may realize. I highly encourage anyone interested to contact Pam and volunteer 1x a month or every couple a months it is definitely food for the soul and you just might make some new lifelong friends…

Thanks so much for the video…if I may take up a little more time I would like also let people know that we do A LOT MORE THAN JUST DRIVE…I know there are so many facets to Partners In Care that it would impossible to cover all of them and the focus of the piece was certainly on the facet that covers much of what we do. We have a volunteer who is a retired IRS agent who helped a senior keep his home by intervening and straightening out some issues with the IRS. We help a recently blinded women by visiting her once a week to read her mail and help her pay her bills. We have provided 1 day a week respite care for a member by sitting with her mother for 4 hours. Whatever a member needs we try to find a volunteer with the appropriate expertise to get them through it. We encourage members to call us anytime they have an issue. We offer members an opportunity to GIVE BACK to the group by sharing a gift or talent they may have with other members. Thanks again Dave for the wonderful help in getting out the Upper Shores best kept senior secret. Pam O’Brien
