Simpatico, Italy’s Finest Celebrates 18th Birthday Memorial Day Weekend

May 26, 2022 by Spy Desk

Simpatico, Italy’s Finest celebrates 18 years in business providing “All Things Italian” to local customers and visitors to the Eastern Shore over Memorial Day Weekend. The celebrations will kick off with a special Customer Appreciation evening event May 27th from 5 to 8 PM which includes reopening of the original restored historic building, oysters, a special art exhibition in partnership with New York based Leonard Tourné Gallery, wine and antipasti tasting and more.

Bobbi Parlett, owner of Simpatico, credits the Italian favorite part of her DNA from her great-great grandfather from Barga, Tuscany, Italy. Antonio Daprato sailed to America from Genoa, Liguria in the mid-1800s. When approached by New York-based Leonard Tourne Gallery to partner for a special art exhibition featuring works by Italian-American Artist Cristina Vergano, who is also from Liguria, Bobbi thought it would be a great opportunity for an exhibit in the restored building as part of the celebration activities.

Artwork by Cristina Vergano

Vergano has created a new line of paintings specifically for this exhibition and she will be in attendance for the reception on May 27th and on Saturday May 28th. She is best known for her oil paintings that blend a classical style with fantastical, surrealistic content with layers of meaning.

In addition to tastings of Ligurian wines and antipasti, the Tilghman Island watermen will be on hand with their “Buck a Shuck” oysters in honor of the original building’s Oyster Saloon heritage, and Prosecco tastings will be offered for a great pairing.

The birthday celebration activities will continue through the weekend, and the art show will run through Sunday, June 5, 2022.

For additional details about Simpatico’s 18th Birthday Celebration and to RSVP go to https://www.simpaticostmichaels.com/events or call (410) 745-0345. For additional details or to schedule a viewing of Vergano’s work, please contact Leonard Tourné Gallery at [email protected] or (212)219-2656.
