The Talbot Democratic Central Committee and the Talbot Democratic Forum are pleased to announce that we have completed an agreement to open our 2014 election year Democratic Headquarters in Easton. The location is 125 N. Washington Street, near the Goldsborough Street intersection, a short walk from the Safeway parking lot, the Courthouse, and the Easton Market. There is designated parking in the rear, and a convenient rear entrance.
Veterans of past years will be pleased to know that the building has central air conditioning, a kitchen counter and small refrigerator, display windows, and ample meeting and storage space. The office will be used for campaign events, receptions, First Fridays, and a variety of social activities. There is plenty of room for meetings, phone banks, poll watching training, and other essential election year activities. This is a superb, central location in Easton, and we are extremely fortunate it was available.
The HQ will officially open Monday, June 16. As in past years, we will need volunteers to greet visitors and answer questions. Veterans of past years know that two-hour shifts are available, two volunteers per shift. Hours until July 4 are M-F 11-3, after July 4 to Labor Day M-F 11-5, and after Labor day through the November election add Saturday from 11-3. If you would like to volunteer, contact volunteer coordinators Bonnie Morro and Jane Johnson at [email protected] and [email protected], respectively.
Headquarters Grand Opening June 21! The Grand Opening of HQ will be Saturday, June 21 at 4 PM, just before the June 24 primary election. Please mark your calendar-we are inviting local and state candidates to attend and speak, and several have already confirmed, including John LaFerla, Bill Tilghman, Keasha Haythe, and Hilary Spence. There will be a complete list of candidates in the June 15 Forum Update. Those of you attending the Juneteenth ceremony at the Academy Art Museum, which finishes at 3 PM, are most welcome to attend. There will be, as usual, the outstanding Forum smorgasbord and drink, and admission is free.
The Democratic HQ will be command central for the 2014 elections in the Mid-Shore. Because of its location the HQ will attract considerable foot traffic. The HQ will host phone banks, training of election volunteers, provide issue information, voter registration, display campaign materials, host Democratic Committee meetings, and other activities designed to maximize Democratic voter participation in 2014.
Talbot Democrats are devoting 100 percent of their resources, time, energy, and money to electing Democratic candidates in 2014. As command central, Democrats will need to pay for HQ phone lines, internet connections, furniture, and utilities to accomplish our goal.
