Edward Lloyd VI, eldest son of Edward Lloyd V of Wye House( b. 1798 d. 1861) was later known as Col. Edward Lloyd , the farmer because of his expertise in managing the Lloyd’s many acres of farmland during a transitional phase of switching from soil depleting tobacco to grain growing. His father placed him in charge of Wye Heights plantation to learn about agriculture. When Edward Lloyd VI married, his father built the beautiful manor House at Wye Heights for him. Later when Edward Lloyd V died Col. Lloyd moved back to Wye House and his younger brother Daniel moved to Wye a Heights.
