This amazing photo of St. Michaels, Maryland was scanned in from a large 1928-1936 glass plate negative found in the H. Robins Hollyday Collection at the Talbot Historical Society. In the foreground is Perry Cabin when it was a farm. Maybe you know some history about what all of those buildings were for? Navy Point was totally a commercial seafood packing area in this picture taken long before the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum was founded there! Contact:

I remember when the Perry Cabin Inn, was a horse farm, and lessons were taught in the indoor arena. If memory serves me correctly, Harry Meyerhoff purchased the Perry Cabin Inn, and turned it into a restaurant. It was during that time that his horse, Spectacular Bid, won the Kentucky Derby.
Harry owned a farm on Marengo Road, and I lived on Marengo Road. Harry was known to indulge in alcohol and (other things). One evening, I spotted Harry’s car ( upside down), in a field on Marengo Road. I stopped, and gave him a ride to his farm. Not wanting to report the accident, or the DWI, he had an employee call a general surgeon & friend, to have Harry treated at home. His car was discreetly removed. In return for my silence & help, I was treated to a dinner for 4, with champagne, at the Perry Cabin Inn!
