This Talbot Historical Society Laird Wise Collection photo envelope identifies this hydroplane driver as Sid Johnson of Cambridge, Maryland’s Airpax Company. Sid Johnson research found that in 1963 he was a member of the 100 Mile Per Hour Club which was conducted by the Gulf Oil Corporation between the years 1949 to 1968! Facts: vintagehydroplanes.com. The Hydroplane that he achieved 100 MPH in was Hydro Beverly Ann IV ! If you look carefully you can see that Sid Johnson is sitting in the trailered Beverly Ann IV in this picture! Did you ever see the hydroplanes racing at Cambridge or St. Michaels? They may have raced at the Kent Narrows too?
