Talbot County Young Professionals will present the 2nd annual Paddle Jam on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Paddle Jam is a community event on the Tred Avon River with post paddling festivities at Easton Point Marina.
Easton Family YMCA Take the Helm Program is Paddle Jam’s beneficiary. Take the Helm is an afterschool enrichment program for high school students in Talbot County that teaches woodworking and leadership skills through the art of wooden boat building.
This six-mile paddling event will leave from and return to Easton Point Marina. Paddlers will launch kayaks, canoes or paddleboards to enjoy a leisurely paddle along the Tred Avon River. Onsite check-in and registration is 3-4:45pm; launch is at 5pm. Paddlers are asked to be off the course by 7:30pm. You may register at www.talbotyp.org, find Paddle Jam 2018 on www.active.com or call the Talbot Chamber at 410.822.4653. Register by June 3 to guarantee an event moisture wicking t-shirt in your size. Paddle Jam is scheduled to take place rain or shine.
Starting at 3pm, there will be a community event at Easton Point Marina until 10pm with food and drink vendors, live music by Black Dog Alley Band (6-10pm), games/activities, face painting, PWEC fishmobile and more. If you do not want to paddle, come out and enjoy the party.
The Paddle Jam will include a poker run, where participants pick up poker cards from designated boats along the river. At the end, participants turn in their hand for a chance to win a prize. The grand prize is the winner’s choice of a kayak or stand up paddleboard from Easton Cycle and Sport! Each comes with a paddle and lifejacket. Both will be onsite for the winner to choose from.
