The archaeological dig at the Hill in Easton is on again. With the recent announcement that The Hill has been determined to be the nation’s oldest free African American neighborhood, the project is quickly gathering steam, and attention.
Bannings Tavern sponsored a reception for the archaeology team at the Hill on Friday in Easton. The archaeology team includes students and professors from Morgan State University as well as the University of Maryland.
The team spent their first wet week identifying dig sites and getting situated for the remaining two weeks of the project.
The public is invited to stop by the Talbot Women’s Club at 18 Talbot Lane from 11:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday until July 26th, when the dig wraps up for the season.
