The Write Group

February 10, 2012 by

What began as a whim five years ago has blossomed into a nearly full-time hobby for writers Anne McCormick from Easton and Barbara Reisert from Claiborne.  The two met at a “nuts and bolts” writing class, sponsored by “The Academy for Lifelong Learning”, at CBMM in St Michaels.  A six week class provided helpful information about how to find family history, and when it ended a new chapter was born – the actual writing of those memories!

The first gathering was held at Barbara’s home with seven men and women in attendance.  Among other things at that first meeting a name was conceived for this merry band of writers: The Write Group.

Some of the places these classes have been conducted over the years are St Michaels Community Center, William Hill Manor, Londonderry, The Academy for Lifelong Learning, The Talbot County Senior Center, in various members homes, and now under the auspices of the St Michaels Library on the second, third, fourth (and if there is one, a fifth) Thursdays of the month from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Jane Lowe Meeting room.

Anne and Barbara have found that sharing the stories from our lives with others builds community and friendships.
