Third Haven Friends Meeting is holding a Native Plant Swap on April 30, 2022 from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants are invited to bring any native plants they have to share, and to take away the plants they want. Offerings are limited to native and edible plants only. Those who are interested in native plants but have none to share are also encouraged to come.
This project was designed to support the environment, a mission greatly valued by Quakers. Native plants are adapted to local conditions so they require less maintenance than non-native species. Additionally, native plants are part of a larger ecosystem that includes native insect, pollinator and bird populations who depend on plants for food.
The Meeting has occupied the same seven-acre property since 1682. The original meeting house was completed in 1684 and is still in active use; a second meeting house was built in 1880 and is used during the colder months. The old meeting house will be open during the plant swap.
Third Haven is located at 405 South Washington Street in Easton. Please call Mary Yancey, 410-829-0959 for additional information, or send her an email at [email protected].
