Easton Library to Offer Stitching Time

On Monday, September 16, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will once again offer its popular “Stitching Time” program.  Patrons are invited to come in and work on their favorite project (knitting, crochet, card making, what-have-you) with a group.  Limited knitting and crochet instruction will be provided for beginners.  All library programs are free and open to the public.  Patrons do not need to pre-register to participate in this program.  For more information, please call the library at 410-822-1626, or visit www.tcfl.org.

Easton Library to Host One Maryland One Book Discussion: What the Eyes Don’t See

On Monday, September 16, at 6:30 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, the Easton Book Group (which is open to all) will discuss this year’s One Maryland One Book, What the Eyes Don’t See, by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha.  “Library guy” Bill Peak will facilitate the discussion.  All library programs are free and open to the public.

“What the Eyes Don’t See” tells the true story of how Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha took on an array of intransigent state and federal bureaucracies to save the people, and especially the children, of Flint, Michigan, from the lead those bureaucrats had allowed to poison their water.  Peak has described the book as “a great ‘the good guys win, the bad guys not only lose, they receive their just deserts’ story.”  In addition to the discussions the library will be hosting, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha will speak in person about the book on Monday, November 4, at 7 p.m., in Chesapeake College’s Todd Performing Arts Center.

St. Michaels Library to Host Children’s “Camp-In”

On Monday, September 16, from 6:00 -7:30 p.m., the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library will offer a “Camp-In” program for children 2 – 8 years of age accompanied by an adult.  There will be camping themed games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, story time, and s’mores around the campfire.  Children are invited to wear their camping gear or PJs, and bring their sleeping bag or blanket (optional).  This program is sponsored by the Talbot County Free Library and St. Luke’s School.  All library programs are free and open to the public, but patrons are asked to pre-register at 410-745-5877 to participate in this program.  For more information, please call the library at 410-745-5877, or visit www.tcfl.org.

Easton Library to Host Afternoon Chess

On Tuesdays, September 17, October 1 & 15, and November 5 & 19, at 4:30 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will host an Afternoon Chess program for children 6 – 16 years of age.  Participants will learn and play chess.  Light snacks will be served.  All library programs are free and open to the public, but patrons do need to pre-register at https://www.tcfl.org/child/programreg/ to participate in this program.  For more information, please call the library at 410-822-1626, or visit www.tcfl.org.

On Tuesday, September 17, at 3:00 p.m., in the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library, the “library guy,” Bill Peak, will host a discussion of this year’s One Maryland One Book, What the Eyes Don’t See, by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha.  One Maryland One Book is the Maryland Humanities program in which people all across the state read the same book at the same time

Easton Library Lunch & Learn: Insects, the Environment, & Us

On Thursday, September 19, at noon, in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, the Friends of the Library will host a Lunch & Learn program featuring Emily Zobel, Dorchester County’s Agriculture Extension Agent.  Zobel will talk about the critical role insects play in our ecology systems, doing everything from pollinating plants we all depend upon to recycling essential nutrients.  Bring your lunch, the Friends will supply refreshments, and learn about some of our common native insect species, the roles they play in our world, what their decline means to us, and what you can do to make your yard and garden more insect friendly.  All library programs are free and open to the public.  Patrons do not need to pre-register to attend this program.  For more information, please call the library at 410-822-1626, or visit www.tcfl.org.

Move2Music at the Easton Library

On Thursday, September 19, at 4:00 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will hold a Move2Music program for children 8 and older.  Participants will listen to the Loblollies (whom you can see in action at: https://youtube/N9ehiPpS1-Y) and move to the music.  Move2Music is like a cross between Zumba and social dancing.  All library programs are free and open to the public.  Patrons do not need to pre-register to participate in this program.  For more information, please call the library at 410-822-1626, or visit www.tcfl.org.

Easton Library to Host World War II D-Day Program Focusing on Talbot County

On Thursday, September 19, at 6:30 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will host a talk by Larry Denton, executive director of Talbot County Historical Society.  In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, Denton will tell the story of local Talbot County citizens of Talbot County and the sacrifices they made to help win that epic battle.  Attendees will learn both the good … and the not-so-good of D-Day.  All library programs are free and open to the public.  Patrons do not need to pre-register to attend this program.  For more information, please call the library at 410-822-1626, or visit www.tcfl.org.

Learn How to Serve As an AARP Tax Aide at the Easton Library
