The Top 4 Things in Your Diet That Are Ravaging Your Health
On Thursday, June 11, at 6:30 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, Joyce Wallace, RN and Integrative Health Coach, will help you select foods to optimize your health. People today often feel surrounded by confusing and conflicting information about diet. In this program, Wallace will teach participants how to choose foods that provide maximum nutrition and bolster health and immunity.
Trained as a nurse, Wallace’s passion for vegetable gardening and cooking drew her to the nutritional side of medicine. As a certified health coach and member of the Association of Drugless Practitioners, she is an advocate for health and wellness and does health consulting. She is the author of “Navigating the Food Jungle, Is your Diet Making you Sick.”
Library’s Festival to Celebrate Local Heroes
On Saturday, June 13, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., in its main Easton branch, the Talbot County Free Library will present its annual Kaleidoscope festival, this year celebrating local heroes. Every day heroes on hand for the event will include firefighters, law enforcement officers, veterans, first responders, and members of the Frederick Douglass Honor Society. The Easton Volunteer Fire department will bring a real fire truck to the festival, and the police and sheriff’s departments will each bring one of their squad cars. Additional entertainment will include the Kids on the Block puppets, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Make-A-Book, crafts, therapy dogs, and a scavenger hunt. There will be live music and free food (hot dogs, lemonade, popcorn, and sno-cones).
There will be amnesty on all over-due charges! If you have a book or DVD you’ve been embarrassed to return because it’s so late, this is the day when you can bring it back to the library and see your fines erased from your record at no cost to you! (Note: This amnesty does not apply to patrons who have lost items or patrons whose accounts are so far in arrears they have been sent to a collection agency.)
All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register to attend Kaleidoscope. For more information, call the library at 410-822-1626, or visit www.tcfl.org.
