Academy Art Museum’s curator Anke Van Wagenberg is far too modest to note how important her decades-long research has been to solve some of the mysteries of two double-profile paintings by Peter Paul Rubens now on view at AAM until July 5. But her scholarship clearly shows in her thoughtful presentation of the artist, his travels, and related materials in the current exhibition entitled, “From Rubens to the Grand Tour.”
In her short interview with the Spy, Van Wagenberg highlights some of her findings from her well-received research article, “A Matter of Mistaken Identity – In Search of a New Title for Rubens’s Tiberius and Agrippina” published by Artibus et Historiae in 2005.
