“Lunatic Farmer” Joel Salatin to Speak at Library
Saturday, March 8, 3:00 p.m. Self-described “environmentalist, capitalist, and lunatic farmer,” author Joel Salatin’s books include Folks, This Ain’t Normal: A Farmer’s Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World and Everything I Want to Do Is Illegal: War Stories from the Local Food Front. Salatin’s farm has been featured in Smithsonian Magazine, National Geographic Gourmet, and The Omnivore’s Dilemma. Profiled on the “Lives of the 21st Century” series with Peter Jennings on ABC World News, his after-broadcast chat room fielded more hits than any in the prior history of that segment. Salatin talks about everything from “creating the farm your children will want” to how to make “a white collar salary from a pleasant life in the country.” A crowd-pleaser, Salatin’s humorous, conviction-based speeches regularly bring audiences to their feet. Joel Salatin’s appearance is made possible by the Eastern Shore Regional Library in partnership with Salisbury University.
