Vance Gilbert burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 90’s when buzz started spreading in the folk clubs of Boston about an ex-multicultural arts teacher who was knocking ’em dead at open mics. Many miles later, this established and preeminent acoustic artist is still wowing the audiences; you can catch him at the Avalon Theatre this Friday, February 17 , 8 pm.
With a number of critically acclaimed albums to his name, Gilbert has fine-tuned his combination of humor, virtuosity, and the unexpected into a unique and vibrant sound into what the Fort Worth Star calls “the voice of an angel, the wit of a devil, and the guitar playing of a god.” Whether it’s his classic, original songwriting, or interpretations of ageless covers, Gilbert’s is a presentation steeped in deep humanism and bravery, stunning artistry and soul, and contagious, unbridled joy.
