Washington College has announced the appointment of innovative organizational strategist Daniel Forrester to its Board of Governors and Visitors.
Forrester’s consulting firm, Thruue Inc., focuses on helping businesses, organizations and government entities rethink how to approach and manage disruption and change in today’s quickly evolving economic and cultural environments. In an era when speed and volume of communications often drives ill-conceived, reactive decisions, Forrester helps organizations reflect critically and deliberately to create strategic initiatives and to clearly define purpose and intent. His book Consider: Harnessing the Power of Reflective Thinking in Your Organization, “truly identified the biggest leadership problem we face today,” said retired Marine Corps General Anthony Zinni; “Speed and action have replaced well-thought-out strategic thinking.”
Forrester’s current and past clients include Verizon, Sallie-Mae, Dow Chemical, Xerox, AARP Foundation, The Department of Homeland Security, The Library of Congress, Easter Seals and the United States Marine Corps. He holds a BA from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and an MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester.
Forrester has worked with Washington College leadership in the past, helping develop and refine the institution’s mission and vision. “I look forward to continuing collaboration with fellow Board members, faculty, and staff,” says Forrester.
College president Mitchell B. Reiss says he is delighted Forrester agreed to serve on the Board. “New technologies are transforming the way we conduct business as well as the expectations of our constituencies—prospective students and their families, our students, alumni, faculty, community members, everyone who has a stake in Washington College,” he says. “I believe Daniel Forrester can help us explore innovations that will define the role of an historic college in a modern world.”
