Talbot County Public Schools Student Artists will be featured at the season opening exhibition at the Candleberry Gallery in St. Michaels from April 1st through 15th. Students of Ms. Bridget Whited, Visual Arts Educator at St. Michaels Middle and High School, and Mr. Jonathan Crist, Fine Arts Instructor at Easton High School, will exhibit artwork in a variety of media. There will be a reception for the students on Wednesday, April 6, from 5 to 7 pm, and students, artists, friends, family & the community are all welcome to come celebrate our local student artists.
In April, Candleberry Gallery will also be featuring artist Vickie Fisher, a native of Tilghman Island and a talented painter of local scenes. The daughter of a waterman, she grew up in a farmhouse on the water built by her grandfather 130 years ago, and enjoyed capturing the beauty of her surroundings with her love of drawing and painting. She works in acrylics, enamels, and glass paint, and as a special spring treat, is teaching a Paint-Your-Own-Wineglass class on Saturday, April 9, from 3 to 5 pm. Participants will get to paint designs on a pair of wineglasses with Vickie’s expert instruction and guidance. The class is only $35 and includes all materials and a glass of wine. Pre-registration is required for the class by calling 410-745-2420. That same day, Saturday, April 9, from 5 to 7 pm, there will also be a reception for Vickie where you can see her beautiful work and watch her demonstrate her craft.
As the weather warms and the flowers bloom, come to Candleberry Gallery to celebrate our local students, shop for a unique gift, and enjoy the talents of local artists in our community. The Candleberry Gallery is located at 210 S. Talbot Street in St. Michaels, next door to The Candleberry General Store.
