There’s something for everyone at the 20th Annual Charity Antiques, Art & Jewelry Show that opened on Friday evening in Easton.
Some of the 20 antique vendors milling about the Waterfowl Building in Easton on Friday evening have been coming for over a dozen years. It’s known as a well-respected show with a strong customer base. Vendors come from as far as Connecticut and Mississippi to showcase their wares.
Peter Nee owns an antiques shop in Millwood, VA, and he spends 2 weekends a month traveling to shows like this one. “I’ve done this show almost every year,” he said. “I love Easton. People are sophisticated here, and I see some of the same collectors each year.”
Jim Seymour of Denton is a schoolteacher by day. Evenings and weekends, he’s a silver dealer. “Each piece is a math problem, just waiting to be solved. Once I determine the age of the piece, and the weight and style, it’s simply math,” he said. Seymour sells through a mailing list and shows like this one.
At the opening, catered by Oxford Greens and sponsored by Hair O’ The Dog Wine and Spirits, guests inspected antiques and enjoyed the sounds of Four Decades, a barbershop quartet as well as Becca Newell and a partner with a ukelele. The duo crooned soft, twangy sounds and wandered throughout the show.
The show is the major fundraising event for the Mental Health Association in Talbot County, and supports mental health education, support and referral services. Mental Health Association Executive Director Jackie Davis posed for a photo with Hertrich of Easton’s Director of Operations Richard Wilkinson, who presented the Association with a check for $2500. “We’re delighted to help,” said Wilkinson.
The show continues all weekend through Sun. March 24, at the Waterfowl Festival Building, 40 S. Harrison Street.
Admission is $10.00 and is good for the entire weekend.
Show Hours:
Saturday, March 23: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
