The 2015 Delmarva Book Prizes, sponsored by the Eastern Shore Writers Association, were announced tonight at a presentation and reception at the Easton, MD Library. The prizes were awarded to Delmarva residents who participated in a contest seeking the best books in the Non-Fiction and Creative Writing fields. $500 was awarded to the winners in each category.
The winner of the Creative Writing award for $500 went to Meredith Davies Hadaway, for years associated with Washington College, for her poetry collection At the Narrows. Honorable Mentions in the creative field were given to Melissa Reddish of Wor-Wic Community College for her short story collection, My Father is an Angry Storm Cloud and Adam Tavel also of Wor-Wic Community College for his poetry collection Plesh and Levitation.
The winner of the $500 Non-Fiction category went to Bruce Riedal of the Brookings Institute for his 
Honorable Mentions in Non-Fiction were given to Kate Livie of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for her new book, Chesapeake Oysters and to Thomas Ryan of Bethany Beach, DE for Spies, Scouts and Secrets of the Gettysburg Campaign.
Special Awards went to Barbara Ellis of Chestertown for her colorful Chesapeake Gardening and Landscape and Richard LaMotte also of Chestertown for The Lure of Seaglass.
The Eastern Shore Writers Association is devoted to the encouragement of good writing on Delmarva. The organization also manages the Bay to Ocean Writing Conference and publishes the Delmarva Review, a literary journal. ESWA also sponsors writer’s workshops and holds meetings throughout the area.
