Susan Bohaker, Susie Wheeler, Sarah Jules, and Parker Jules claimed low net honors at the Women & Girls Fund’s 6th Annual Golf Tournament. The event was held at the Talbot Country Club on September 12. For Susie Wheeler, the nine-hole tournament was her first and she exclaimed, “I had no idea a golf tournament could be such fun!” The “scramble” tournament — where members of each team tee off, then hit from the location of the best of their four shots — finished off a day that included a series of clinics on rules, putting, pitching, chipping and long shots. In all, 64 women participated. “It was great to see so many novice and experienced golfers enjoying a wonderful day playing and learning together,” said Women & Girls Fund President Talli Oxnam. Other winners at the Women & Girls Fund golf tournament included Lisa Hancock, closest to the pin, and Susan Bohaker, longest drive. Alice Ryan, founder of the Fund established in 2002, said, “We were honored to have the backing of over 30 business and individual sponsors this year in support of women, girls, and families on the Mid-Shore. We are especially grateful for our Station sponsors: CBIZ, Pinney Associates, Wye Financial & Trust, Shore United Bank, Avon Dixon Insurance, Tred Avon Family Wealth, Miss Alice & Crew, and Sandi Vince.”
