Ready for some truly fresh music ? How about electronic a cappella ? The LA group Sonos rolls into Easton on Monday, October 3 to perform its spellbinding repertoire of electronically manipulated vocal stylings at the Avalon Theatre.
Emerging in the fall of ’09 from the Los Angeles vocal scene, Sonos turned the a cappella genre on its head with bold vocal+electronic interpretations of popular indie material. On their Verve debut “SonoSings” the group reinvented Radiohead, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes & Imogen Heap, and dazzled with a dark, trip-hop take on a Jackson 5 classic.
“We’re very comfortable performing purely acoustically,” explains founding member Kathy Hoye, “but in the studio and playing live with a sound system, we essentially make electronic vocal music.”
“Prepare to be stunned,” the U.K.’s Guardian says of this award-winning quintet of musical trailblazers.
Highly recommended.
