Many folks we know stay close to home over New Year’s, have a quiet dinner with a few friends and watch the festivities in Times Square on the tube. But have they ever participated in a First Night ? And for Easton residents, there is one in their backyard ! The family friendly event begins at 6pm with plenty of activities for kids as well as grown ups. The younger set is particularly fond of the craft station and Cascading Carlos the Juggler in the Waterfowl building. We are looking forward to hearing Ken Kolodner & son’s Celtic music, as well as Angel Band.
Sunday, weather permitting, we are all piling in the car and heading out to a nature preserve to take a hike and get some much needed fresh air and exercise. Haven’t decided whether it will be Pickering Creek Audubon Center or Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Guess it depends on how ambitious we feel, but at least we’re starting the New Year off on the right foot.
