The Fall WineFest and beautiful clear weather drew crowds of oenophiles to three venues in St. Michaels this weekend. The two-day festival wraps up Sunday.
Tastings of more than 60 wines from around the world were featured at the Old Brick Inn’s Kemp House on Talbot Street and the Patriot cruise ship during cruises on the Miles River. At the St. Michaels Harbour Inn, a special wine-centered dinner featuring local foods was served in the Harbour Lights Restaurant Saturday night.
John Marrah, Captain of the Patriot, said two special wine-tasting cruises sold out Saturday and a third cruise was added.
His wife, Robin, who was handling ticket sales at the Kemp House Saturday afternoon, said attendance was exceeding expectations by more than 35 percent.
The Old Brick Inn and St. Michaels Harbour Inn offered special lodging, wine and food packages for the weekend.
Proceeds from WineFest ticket sales are being contributed to local charities.
