While the game of lacrosse has been an important one for the Eastern Shore, with both local college and high school teams frequently finding themselves at the top of statewide competition, it must be said that it is the legacy of baseball on the Mid-Shore has always had a special place.
From the likes the Easton Yankees and the creation of the Eastern Shore Baseball League, to locals like Harold Baines from Easton and Frank Baker from Trappe making the big leagues, baseball has always stood out as the real game of choice for Delmarva.
And no one knows that unique history better that St. Michaels High School’s athletic director and baseball coach Brian Femi. With almost two decades of service in Talbot County, Femi has had an extraordinarily successful winning record, but more importantly is revered for his special talent of getting the most out of his players, in on the playing field and in the classroom.
In his interview with the Spy, Brain talks about his role as coach and mentor, and the impact the sport has had in Talbot County.
