On Thursday, November 17, at 5:00 p.m., the Talbot County Free Library will sponsor a talk in the Wagner Witte Gallery (5 North Harrison Street, Easton) by Smithsonian scholar Dr. Herman Viola.
Dr. Viola will discuss the ways in which the Lewis and Clark Expedition used and built upon geographical information first developed by Native Americans. “The Lewis and Clark Expedition,” writes Dr. Viola, “has been a special interest of mine for many years. In fact, since 1985 I have been the study leader on an annual horse-back trip over the Lolo Trail, the Indian route that Lewis and Clark used in crossing the Bitterroot Mountains during their epic crossing of the continent.”
All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register for this program. For more information, call the library at 410-822-1626, or visit www.tcfl.org.
