mission-boy-front-cover-600x900pxA presentation of the Secant Press recent publication of a “lost” Gilbert Byron manuscript, Mission Boy, will be held at the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library at 6:00 p.m. on September 26, 2016. Attendees will hear how Byron’s telling of the 1570 Spanish attempt to establish a permanent settlement within the Chesapeake Bay region came to be published decades after it was first written. Those relating how this story – Mission Boy – was eventually published are Jim Dawson, owner of the Unicorn Bookshop and Byron friend and publisher of his later work; Jacques Baker, Byron friend and author of his biography; and Ron Sauder, publisher, Secant Press of Salisbury. Time will be available for questions from the audience who will also have to opportunity to view photographs of and by Byron and some of his personal memorabilia. Copies of Mission Boy will also be available for purchase.
