Captain Iris Clarke, of the catboat Selina II that sails daily out of St. Michaels Harbor, reports that she had an unexpected visitor this summer when a juvenile osprey flew into her rigging. The young sea hawk was frightened when a fleet of muscle boats on a poker run roared into the Miles River. It sought refuge in Selina II’s lazyjacks and fell into the lap of one of the guests who sat quietly until deckhand Frank picked up the bird and held it until it calmed down. Captain Iris sailed close to the osprey’s nest and let it fly home. The next day, she checked and the bird was in good health.[slideshow id=34]
