Michael and Kristy Caronna of Oxford, MD, were recognized this year. The Caronnas, who have four biological children became involved with the Talbot County Department of Social Services in October 2013 as kinship care providers Kristy Caronna’s infant cousin, Julian. The Caronnas adopted Julian in May 2015.
According to Megan Yowell, LGSW, Talbot County Department of Social Services, “Mr. and Mrs. Caronna, along with their four sons, took Julian in and integrated him into their family. They cared for Julian, providing for him and ensuring all of his needs were being met without ever asking for the Department’s assistance. They have been exceptional in the way that they stepped up to take full responsibility of Julian even though it was difficult at times.” She adds, “The Caronnas are an extraordinary family and the Department is proud to have been able to work with them in efforts to making Julian a permanent member of their family.”
