About a month ago, the Talbot Spy and the Avalon Foundation agreed to partner in providing the community with candidate profiles for those running for the Easton Town Council for Ward One and Ward Three in the May 2 election.
We continue with Ward One candidates Ron Engle (incumbent) and challenger David Montgomery.
Interviewed by the Talbot Spy editor Dave Wheelan, with the technical support of the Avalon’s Mid-Shore Community Television MCTV, these profiles center on three primary subjects; a candidate’s background, qualifications, and priorities if elected to office. These interviews average 20 minutes in length.
We think that our viewers will walk away much better informed on those critical themes, but will also recognize, as did the Spy and Avalon crew, that our community is all the more enriched by having such a unique collection of dedicated citizens among us.
Ron Engle
David Montgomery

Mr.Engle. You talk about your accomplishments for the town fo Easton, but what have you done for Ward 3 and specifically what have you done about the MHC’s proposed development of the Easton Club golf course property?
Susie Hayward says
Rose, you can find Ron Engle’s in-depth answer to your question and more here: https://talbotspy.org/why-i-am-running-for-re-election-for-town-council-ward-3/

Scroll into the comments as well; he provided more information there too.
Richard Marks says
Very well spoken candidate with a clear message on controlling development, but seems to be lacking in engagement with local organizations despite living here for ten years. Problem solving requires more than observations from 10,000 feet. It requires boots on the ground. Having the luxury to commute from Cooke’s Hope to town is wonderful, but not so when you have to commute from other counties to work here. While it may be what is necessary for that person in order to support their family, it does make it acceptable. If Mr. Montgomery sees nothing wrong with that then he is unlikely to try and find a solution. I wish there was more of a vision articulated for the future of Easton. I heard nothing innovative.

Ron Engle has done much for the Town of Easton, including Ward 3. Passing legislation to add more sidewalks and expand the Rails to Trails system. He maintained a budget that covered repairs and upgrades to our infrastructure and enhanced our parks, improved the police department’s retirement program, and gave our town employees a much-deserved raise. He has done much more without increasing our taxes. He was a catalyst for annexing Dutchmans Lane and providing much-needed road repairs and sidewalks (Ward 3). Attending HOA meetings when requested (Ward 3). Helping the communities of Cooks’s Hope, Easton Club, Easton Club East, and Stoney Ridge with speed control. Helping South Beechwood with flooded storm drains (Ward 3). Ron Engle serves on many Boards and Commissions giving him extensive knowledge of many facets of our community. We need a person with local knowledge and experience on our Council. That’s why I am voting to re-elect Ron Engle.
