The Talbot Historical Society’s Project Rewind’s photo of the week: a baseball game being played at the Easton Ball Park on Federal Street.
Baseball was introduced to Easton and Talbot County in 1867. On September 6, 1867 the first recorded complete box score game was played. The Trappe Choptanks outran the Easton Fairplays in seven innings, 85 to 47. It was played at Fairplays home grounds on Point Road. After the game the losers bought the winners dinner at an Easton Tavern called the Talbot House. Facts: Easton Album by HSTC written by Norman Harrington 1986. Photo from the H.
