Create a pendant, earrings or jewelry elements from copper metal Clay. This material is worked and textured like modeling clay and fired in a kiln, resulting in solid copper pieces that can be used as stand alone jewelry or as elements in mixed media pieces. Instructor Janice Colvin will show you the possibilities.
Firing and finishing methods will also be discussed. Bring small embellishments like buttons, shells, lace or bark to use to texture your designs or make molds. Pieces will be fired in class to take home the same day. A package of copper clay is included in the class price. An informational handout will be given to students to take home. All tools and materials will be provided by the instructor for use by the student. Students should bring a lunch.
This workshop will be held for one day Saturday, May 19 from 9 AM until 2:30 PM.
Fee for the class is $50 for members of the Talbot County Visual Arts Center and $80 for nonmembers.
Janice Colvin teaches classes in precious metal silver and bronze and copper metal clays in various venues throughout the mid-sure and western shore. She has worked with metal clays for more than 10 years starting on the jewelry making path using Crystal, fused glass, wood, ceramic and silver in her creations.
