The Rev. Dr. William T. Wallace, Sr., is the preacher in the Talbot Association of Clergy and Laity (TACL) annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Worship Service this Sunday, November 22, at 7 p.m. in Temple B’nai Israel, 101 West Earle Avenue, opposite the emergency room entrance of UofM Shore Health Systems. The public is invited.
“Dr. Wallace is a transformational speaker for us in this world so weary with conflict,” TACL Chairman Bishop Joel Marcus Johnson said. “We are overjoyed for his expanding leadership in our Talbot County religious life.”
The evening features the whole spectrum of Talbot County religious life, beginning with Rabbi Peter Hyman blowing the ceremonial ram’s horn shofar, special music by the Praise Team of Tri Life Christian Center, and Easton Unitarian Fellowship’s renowned mezzo-soprano Maureen Curtin singing the ever popular, “Bless This House, O Lord, We Pray.”
Meditations and prayers will be offered by Easton Mayor Robert Willey, Temple President Frank Menditch, Tri Life Pastor Anthony Short, Interfaith Minister The Rev. Nancy Sajda, Temple member Ed Simonoff, and M. Walid Kamsheh, M.D., of the Islamic Society. Julie Lowe, Executive Director of Talbot Interfaith Shelter, will deliver the final blessing.
The Rev. John Moore of Bozman, Pastor of the United Methodist Riverview Charge, will offer a special thanksgiving prayer in his native Lakota Sioux tongue, assisted by Riverview Charge music director, Mr. Bill Ball.
A reception will follow, hosted by Lesley and Fred Israel of Royal Oak. Mr. Israel is an emeritus chairman of TACL, and former Temple president. Mrs. Israel is TACL’s Premier Interfaith Laureate.
TACL Chairman Bishop Johnson, President of The Oaks of Mamre Interfaith Library and Graduate Center, will preside. The Oaks is a special project of the Mid Shore Community Foundation.
Dr. Wallace is an Elder in the Peninsula Delaware Conference. He holds a BA in Social work, Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry in Evangelism.
Now in its 51st year, TACL’s mission statement reads, “TACL is an interfaith organization promoting the Spiritual Welfare: Compassion, Justice, Peace, Reconciliation, for the Common Good. We seek to do this through Education, Relationship Building, and our Diverse Ministries.”
